Nagel - fair point: he did take over in December, you’re absolutely right.

Decent performance, sure, but nothing sensational. The fact that he quickly threw his toys out of his pram, when he had a good job, and wandered off at the first sign of trouble, doesn’t bode well though. And O’Neil picking up the pieces and doing better at Wolves has just highlighted the reality.

I’d give him a swerve.

The other point I’d make about Lopetegui is that, if he’s appointed, it will show what an absolute waste of time and money it has been employing a director of football.

If an unemployed manager who has failed at most clubs he’s managed, been sacked repeatedly, and who threw his toys out of his pram at Wolves (after finishing 13th)…is the best Tim Steidten can do…then either Steidten isn’t that good or Sullivan is still calling the shots when it comes to selecting managers.

Either way, it won’t be a good sign for that role.

I generally agree, sbbb, but he didn't have one full season at Wolves. His first game was on Boxing Day and he took them from 20th to 13th. You can't knock him for that. Style of play, maybe, but not the results.

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I’m instinctively wary about Lopetegui.

He really hasn’t done that well at most of the sides he’s managed. He failed at Porto, was dismissed early - mid-tournament - from the Spain job (for taking the Madrid role), got sacked from Madrid after three months, and was 13th in his one full season at Wolves.

His success was at Seville, where he won the Europa League in his first season - which is a good achievement, no question. But that club prioritises the Europa, he inherited a strong squad, and his two other seasons in Sevilla were bang average and then poor. He got sacked.

He doesn’t last long anywhere - three seasons tops (before generally getting sacked). He’s one of those managers who generally promises more than he delivers.

And he was a goalkeeper - who rarely make good managers!

If he gets our job, good luck to him. I hope he tears it up. But he wouldn’t be my choice. Not with a clean slate, post-Moyes. It would be an uninspiring, slightly lazy, choice that epitomises the foreign manager premium.

I think we could do a lot better.

Have been in Porto for the last few days & was chatting to the taxi driver about football as we drove past the FC Porto stadium as we headed to the hotel.
Told him my club was hoping to take the Sporting manager & he thought that was a great idea
Another vote for Amorim

Hold on - what if they are going for Klopp?

Sutton was a cunt of a player always thought he was better than he actually was.
He suits the BBC as him and Savage are like a couple of washer women with their inane chat.

Amen. He’s got an opinion typical of a man who clearly never watches us play.

Looks like a new man is certainly coming in one way or another so that’s a plus.

None without a certain risk though. I’d worry Lop would be like another pellegrini. On the way down and maybe after a pay cheque and going through the motions more than wanting to make something great. Would much prefer an up and comer like Amorim who wants to prove themselves but then there’s the chance he could be an AVB just as much as he could be a Klopp, or just views us as a stepping stone.

I’d prefer the latter. More importantly I want them to be part of an overall strategy at the club committed to a long term improvement plan from top to bottom including player recruitment and more importantly sticking to it rather than reverting to type if it’s not immediately successful or becomes expensive. Sullivan needs to embrace risk for once and put his faith in the people he’s employed to handle football rather than bottling it and reverting to type the moment he feels out of his comfort zone.

The irony with the cunt Sutton is that if his results predictions for the BBC had proved accurate we'd be 5th from bottom, so given that he thinks Moyes is perfect for us, it follows that that's where he thinks we belong

Chris Sutton, a massive twat who is stealing a living with his absolute drivel, reckons we'll be back in for Moyes after a few months of a new manager.

The bloke is a grade A cunt who just can't stop himself from being a massive pillock.

Comma are you now trying to say that Moyes isn’t a defensive manager?

Bilic and Pellegrini were both Sullivan choices and most fans were happy with them at the time.

Its simple I want steidten to ultimately choose the new head coach , not Sullivan .

Re: If David Moyes leaves West Ham who would you want to replace him?
I have noticed this season how badly we defend, how we do not defend as a team from the very front, how we don’t have a regular outlet when regaining possession to make enough of it. How we deliberately funnel back, how we regularly concede due to back four mistakes or midfielders losing easy possession.
